Familiar Faces on Team Canada 2025!

It is with immense pride that the entire Ultra-Trail Harricana du Canada (UTHC) team learned of the first selection of athletes who will represent Canada at the 2025 World Mountain and Trail Running Championships. With close to 40 athletes announced, we were thrilled to see many familiar faces— trail runners who have left their mark on our trails.

Their selection to compete against the world’s best in Canfranc-Pirineos, Spain, from September 25 to 28, is a wonderful recognition of their talent and determination, and a testament to the calibre of athletes who return to run our trails year after year.

Celebrating UTHC Athletes Who’ve Made Their Mark

Many of the selected athletes have stood out at the UTHC in recent years. We warmly congratulate them and highlight their achievements on our courses:

Jean-François Cauchon

A long-time UTHC runner, Jean-François has participated in several editions and claimed his second victory in the flagship 125 km race in 2018.

Elliot Cardin

A standout on the Charlevoix trails, Elliot won the 125 km in 2022 after taking second place in 2020.

Jean-Philippe Thibodeau

A regular on the podium, Jean-Philippe made history in 2023 by sharing first place in the 125 km with French athletes Antoine Guillon and Cédric Chavet, resulting in a rare three-way tie.

Geneviève Asselin-Demers

A rising star in the ultra-trail scene, Geneviève burst onto the scene in 2023 with a victory in the 125 km—her first attempt at that distance.

Mylène Sansoucy

A seasoned UTHC participant, Mylène won the women’s 80 km in 2018 and placed second in the 125 km in 2022, right behind Priscilla Forgie.

Samuel Poher

A fast and efficient Quebec runner, Samuel won the UTHC 65 km in 2022, mastering the technical course with flair.

Rémi Leroux

Rémi placed second in the 65 km in 2018, just behind Elliot Cardin, demonstrating his trail-running prowess.

Claudine Soucie

Claudine won the 80 km in 2020 and showed her versatility by finishing third in the women’s 125 km in 2023.

Christopher Lévesque-Savard

Specializing in mid-distance trail events, Christopher finished second in both the 28 km and 20 km races in 2022.

Élisa Morin

Élisa stood out at UTHC 2024, placing second in the new 42 km Saint-Siméon course.

Anne-Marie Comeau

A former Olympic skier turned trail runner, Anne-Marie took part in UTHC 2024 and won the women’s 28 km race.

Laurie Proulx

An emerging talent, Laurie won the 42 km Saint-Siméon race at UTHC 2024, confirming her bright future in the sport.

A Global Challenge in the Heart of the Pyrenees

These athletes, well-versed in the rugged terrain of the Charlevoix backcountry, will face equally demanding trails and significant elevation in the Pyrenees. Their experience at events like the UTHC will undoubtedly serve them well.

The entire UTHC organization sends its warmest congratulations to all the selected athletes. We’ll be cheering loudly for our past participants as they take on the world.

Good luck, Team Canada! Go Canada Go!

UTHC Awarded

On Thursday, May 1st, Événements Harricana was honored during the launch cocktail for Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month, organized by MS Canada – Quebec Division.

We were incredibly proud to receive the award for the organization that stood out the most for its fundraising efforts and results. A meaningful recognition that reflects the exceptional commitment of our community. Thanks to the continued dedication of our runners, over $100,000 is raised each year to support research. In 2025, we will reach a symbolic milestone: over $1,000,000 raised since the beginning of our partnership with MS Canada.

As Sébastien Côté highlighted in his speech: it’s our participants, personally touched by the cause or supporting it from afar, who are the true heroes behind this achievement.

It’s still possible to get involved by running for the cause! By raising $150 or more, you automatically secure a bib for the distance of your choice — even if it’s sold out. This is also the last month to enter the lottery for a spot in our brand new 60 km!

Thank you to MS Canada for your trust, and to our pack of wolves who prove, year after year, that running can truly make a difference.
