Originally from Baie-Saint-Paul, I spent my youth playing outdoors and getting lost in the woods. The outdoors and sport quickly became part of my life. I set out on my ultra-trail journey with great ambition a few years ago, and in 2021, I won the QMT 80 km. In 2022 and 2023, I was the winner of the 50 km and last year I shared victory in the UTHC125. I was also lucky enough to fly to Austria (2023), Thailand (2022) and Patagonia (2019) with the Canadian delegation to take part in the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships.

My name is Matthieu and I’m 27 years old. Originally from France, I arrived in Montreal in October 2021 as an engineer for the Montreal REM project.
I really started trail running when I arrived in Quebec, less than 3 years ago.
I immediately loved the state of mind, the challenge of surpassing yourself in nature and the sharing.
In fact, I share and lead numerous outings with groups in Montreal such as Run In Montréal (RIM) and the Club de Trail de Montréal (CTM).

These entities allow us to get together and share great moments together.
From a personal point of view, the goal is to continue to have a lot of fun on and off the trails, while testing out new adventures.

I am a coach, exercise physiologist, and hold a PhD in sports science. I competed as a professional triathlete for the past 10 years, but a few years ago I discovered trail running and completed a few ultras. My first was the 60 km trans-Montreal. Then I did the 80 km UTHC in 2020 and the Black Canyon 100 km in 2024, and I’ve participated in the Mont-Mégantic marathon for the past 4 years. Last year, I attempted the 125 km UTHC distance, but I had to drop out at the 80 km mark. I aim to recover and finally cross the finish line this year!

Originally from Auvergne (France), after more than 15 years of playing rugby, I seriously started running. In late March 2023, I moved to Montreal for a new experience. I took this year to heal an injury while discovering a wonderful running community (Run In Montréal, RunRite, the Montreal Trail Club, etc.). This year off from competition also allowed me to explore major trail events in Quebec through volunteering. It was only a year after arriving in Canada that I truly experienced the trails of Quebec and probably had my best trail season so far (2024). This year, 2025, was supposed to be the confirmation year, but unfortunately, some physical setbacks have marred my first three races. I’m hoping that everything will fall into place for the fourth one, and that no wolf is lurking 😉

My name is Jay Du Temple. I’m 33 years old, I’m a comedian, host, and, for the past few years, an amateur endurance athlete. (My mom thinks I’m a professional, though.) In 2024, I ran and biked across Canada to present shows and raise funds for mental health research. It changed my life. Since then, all I want to do is push my limits in these sports that excite me so much, and share my experiences to show what I’m learning, hopefully inspiring or entertaining those who care. (Or, at worst, just my mom.)

I’ve participated in a few trail races, but the UTHC 125 will be my longest distance ever. It’s the main goal of my year.

I dream about it at night. I can’t wait to run alongside my fellow passionate self-improvement enthusiasts.

LET’S GO!

I started running when I was very young. I did several sports in my youth, and I’ve always been passionate about endurance sports. In 2018, I went to the Olympic Games as a cross-country skier, a sport I’d been practicing for several years. It was such an enriching experience that I’ll never forget it! After the Games, I decided to focus on running, and since then I’ve been competing in several competitions in this sport, and I have big goals. In addition to sport, I work in an accountancy firm, as a future CPA, and I love cooking and spending time with friends and family.

Originally from France, I started running seriously after crossing the Atlantic and joining the cross-country team at a university in Ontario. I then had the chance to compete at the university level in cross-country and track on the Usports circuit, still with that Ontario university, before joining the Rouge et Or team at Université Laval in 2019. As I finished my degree, I felt the urge to explore new things and try out new distances, and trail running became an obvious choice. Since then, I’ve faced various races up to 50km, but what brings me the most joy each time is exploring new trails, whether at home or elsewhere!

34 years old
I’m excited to return to the UTHC 125 after a 4th place finish last year. Living in Toronto, I spend most days running on the roads, but I also love getting out to explore my local trails whenever I can. I started running in 2019 and have gradually moved up in race distance ever since. Earlier this year, I completed my first 100-mile race, winning the Sulphur Springs Trail Race in course record time, and I’m hoping to build on that result at UTHC. The 125 km course features some of the most beautiful and challenging trails I’ve had the opportunity to run, and I’m grateful for the chance to take them on again this September.

I started athletics in 2004 after watching the Athens Olympics. That’s actually what allowed me to fly from France to Quebec and eventually obtain Canadian citizenship: I came to study at Université Laval, where I joined the Rouge et Or team. I specialized in middle-distance running. During the pandemic, I enjoyed increasing my training volume and discovering trail running.

Winner of the 30 km at Béluga Trail and the 20 km at Trail La Clinique du Coureur in 2024, I also took home the victory in the 42 km classic at the Ultra-Trail Harricana du Canada in 2022 and 2023. My races in 2025 won’t be my biggest challenge this year, as we’re expecting a baby in June!

The UTHC 28 km remains a great option to keep some races in my season.

I am a physical education teacher in Quebec at a regional school specializing in autism spectrum disorder (ASD). I truly see my profession as a passion. Every day, I face numerous challenges that vary with each of my 57 students. A dog lover, I also practice dog-powered sports like bikejoring, skijoring, canicross, and canitrail.

I am 24 years old, originally from Brittany, France, and I have been living in Montreal for two years now. Since I was young, I’ve been passionate about sports, particularly mountain biking and road cycling. I’ve always felt the need to be outdoors, in nature; it’s a true balance for me.

Three years ago, I discovered running, starting with road races, with times of 33’26 for 10 km and 1h15’33 for the half-marathon. But for the past two years, it’s in trail running that I truly thrive. I really feel at home in this discipline, both for the sport itself and for the atmosphere and community surrounding it.

In terms of results, I won the Ultranza 30 km and the 30 km of the Clinique du Coureur, and I’ve also completed several long-distance races, including 50 km and an 80 km.

My greatest strength is my mental toughness: I never give up.

Today, I have a huge desire to progress, to learn, and to go even further in this sport. Becoming a trail running coach is also one of my medium-term goals.

I practiced taekwondo throughout my childhood and adolescence. When I decided to try new things, it was endurance sports that caught my attention.

I participated in my first road races in 2009 at the age of 20. I then learned to swim to practice triathlon for a few years, while occasionally participating in track or cross-country races.

I discovered trail running in 2019 while once again seeking new experiences. I fell in love with these forest adventures and the community. I had to take a break for the past two years due to some health issues, but I will be back at the UTHC in 2025 for my 5th participation in the event and my 3rd time in the 125km.

After practicing triathlon and transitioning more seriously into running during university, the lockdown and the halt of group training during the pandemic introduced me to the world of trail running. I quickly grew to enjoy the versatility required to be a good trail athlete. Since then, I’ve tackled distances ranging from vertical kilometers to 100 kilometers. What I love: having the opportunity to say yes to any adventure that comes my way. I was fortunate enough to participate in the World Championships in Thailand in 2022 on the 80 km course, win the 65 km UTHC in 2021, finish 4th at Bandera (Texas) 100 km in 2025, and step onto the podiums of many trail races in Quebec, such as QMT50, UTHC 28 and 42 St-Siméon, Bromont Ultra…
Alongside all of this, I am a PhD student in decision sciences with a focus on energy policy modeling, in other words, I optimize the use of energy resources to meet climate objectives.

I started running by organizing a challenge to run a marathon with my friends to raise funds for multiple sclerosis. Having always loved being in the mountains, I then turned to trail running for a few years. During my university studies, I joined the Vert et Or athletics and cross-country team, with which we won the provincial cross-country championship and finished second at the Canadian championships. Now that I’m finishing my master’s degree, I want to make a big comeback to trail running.

I have a special connection to the UTHC, which raises funds for multiple sclerosis – a disease my father is affected by. Events like this can truly make a difference for the cause.

I love running on trails, especially technical mountain courses. Over the past few years, I’ve had the pleasure of participating in three 160 km races in Canada and the United States, and I’m particularly drawn to long-distance courses. I finished 3rd place at the QMT 160 km last year and 5th at the 100-mile Hellbender race in North Carolina.

This is my 4th time participating in the UTHC, and the 125 km course still draws me in just as much. I’m in love with the mountains of Charlevoix, especially the first section in the ZEC des Martres. The descents remain my favorite moments, and this course offers some beautiful ones! Having finished this race in 4th and 2nd place in 2022 and 2023 respectively, my goal this year will be to shave some time off my personal record. I’m really looking forward to joining the Harricana team again this year!

25 years old

I grew up mainly at Mont-Ste-Anne. Sports and the outdoors have always been an integral part of my life. I competed in mountain biking at the national and international levels until I was 18. After graduating university in 2023 (pharmacy), I started trail running. In 2024, I participated in my first season of trail racing and my first ultra-trail. For my 2025 season, my goal is to explore different distances, ranging from the 100 km at UTFS to the vertical kilometer at the Défi des Couleurs. I’m really excited to take on the UTHC for the first time!

A physiotherapist now based in Sherbrooke, in the Eastern Townships, Laurianne has been running for around ten years. After experimenting with longer trail distances between 2017 and 2019, she now thrives on events that are a tad shorter, but just as intense. She’s particularly fond of the UTHC, an event she’s taken part in almost every year since 2018. Having been lucky enough to line up on the 42 Classique course on numerous occasions, this year she’s leaving it behind to revisit the 42 St-Siméon, which she completed during a double program in 2021: 42 Classique on Saturday and 42 St-Siméon on Sunday. Let’s just say her legs should be in better shape to enjoy the course this time!

I’m originally from Charlevoix, and the UTHC trails are my big playground. The event and the team hold a special place in my heart and in my running journey. It was at Harricana that I took my very first steps as a runner. Initially, I joined to support the cause of MS and in solidarity with my precious friend who lives with the disease. Since then, I’ve continued running for all the well-being it has brought me and for all the wonderful people I continue to meet along the way. This year again, I wish to participate in the 125 km to honor the opportunity I have to do so and to offer all my support to those who live with the daily challenges of the disease. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who supports the cause and helps us dream of a future without MS.

My athletic journey first began in track and field before I realized that trail running is the type of race that suits me best. It quickly became my favorite playground: I find the ups, the downs, the small challenges, and the vast landscapes there. This sport brings a whirlwind of emotions, and that’s what makes it so captivating. I pursue it with enthusiasm… and a bit of an obsession I’ve never admitted until now! Looking forward to sharing a stretch of trail and some smiles!

Marline Côté has been a passionate trail runner for over fifteen years. Involved in various organizations working within the trail running community over the past decade, she has set herself the challenge this year of completing the queen distance of the Ultra-Trail Harricana du Canada, the 125 km. This event, which she led for seven editions as the General Director of Événements Harricana from 2017 to 2023, will be a symbolic challenge for her. It will give her the chance to experience the event from the inside, meeting volunteers and team members throughout the course, from aid station to aid station, and she hopes to finish it with her 12-year-old son, Joé Iza, during the last 15 kilometers. Marline is especially motivated to take on this challenge this year, as her friend Fanny Barrette, also an ultratrail runner, was diagnosed with glioblastoma in March, a very aggressive type of brain cancer. She hopes that her challenge will raise funds for brain cancer research and inspire those who follow her to make the most of what life has to offer.

My name is Marilou, I’m 25 years old, and I started running during the pandemic, which makes me very unique (just kidding)!

I run because I enjoy it. Not for the time or to take on a challenge, but because it’s simple, and it feels good. I discovered the UTHC in 2021 while sharing the 65 km trails with my dad. Since then, it’s an appointment I never miss. Sometimes I run, sometimes I lend a hand to the medical team. No matter the role, it’s the energy there that always brings me back.

During the year, I also spend a lot of time running with young people through Étudiants dans la course. Seeing them push their limits, grow through running, that’s what really excites me, more than setting any PRs!

Aside from running, I work as a nurse at Sainte-Justine, I’m studying to become a pediatric nurse practitioner, I cook… and I eat a lot (a lot) of ice cream. Looking forward to crossing paths with you on the trails!
